Lucille M. Nauholz

Lucille Nauholz, 96, of Sumner, died Monday, October 17, 2016, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Norman Bauer officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, rural Westgate. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated to a charity of their choice at a later date. 

Lucille Margaret, daughter of Roy and Viola Day Traeger, was born October 15, 1920, near Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized October 16, 1921, at the Evangelical United Brethren (now known as Union United Methodist Church) rural, Sumner. She received her education in the Sumner Schools, graduating from Sumner High School in 1938. On February 1, 1944, she was united in marriage with Herbert Nauholz at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Richfield. The couple farmed in the Westgate area prior to moving to a farm near Hawkeye. In 1979, they moved into Hawkeye. Herb’s death occurred in 1996, and in 1998, Lucille moved to Sumner. She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years, and became a member of St. John Lutheran Church when she moved to Sumner. Lucille enjoyed sewing, fishing, was a member of a card club in Sumner, and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and other family.

Lucille is survived by her children, Bill (Carolyn) Nauholz of Sumner, Judy (Merlin) Meyer of Wright, Minnesota, Diane Pagel, and Brenda (Dave) Rader, all of Sumner; fourteen grandchildren, Kelly (Dave) Hassmann, Keri (Al) Olivetti, Trent (Hilary) Nauholz, Wade (Nichole) Meyer, Wes (Sarah) Meyer, Stefanie (Jeremy) Mielke, Marty (Beth) Pagel, Mandy (Jason) Gleiter, Mory Pagel, Megan (Bob) Rawlins, Matthew Pagel, Molly (Jamie) Pagel, Holly (Trey) Myers,  and Kristen (Eric) Staker; thirty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother, Elroy (Betty) Traeger  of Urbandale; two sisters, Marge Prestien of Sumner and Ruth (Bob) Hickman of Sacramento, California; a brother-in-law, Clayton Simpson of Rancho Cucamonga, California; and a sister-in-law, Loretta Nauholz of Fairbank.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lucille was preceded in death by a son, Roger Lee; a sister, Frieda Simpson; a brother, John Traeger; and a brother-in-law, Vern Prestien.

What a wonderful lady Lucille was. We loved to visit with her when we lived next to her in the Grove St. duplex. Lucille didn't even get mad when I, not knowing what they were, mowed down her Hostas !! Ann and I often marveled at how loving Lucille's family was to her. One of her kids, or grandkids visited her daily and she adored them. R I P Lucille, We will fondly remember you always
